Cowes Sailability Club made it possible for islanders with poor mobility and other disabilities to enjoy a gentle cruise along the River Medina during Riverfest 2016.

A grant from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Fund has enabled Cowes Sailability Club to acquire new lifejackets and VHS radios.

Three volunteers for Cowes Sailability Club have gained a national powerboat qualification, enabling them to provide additional support for members on the water.

Cowes Sailability Club marked the end of ‘Fitting Out’ and the start of the 2016 sailing season with lunch at the Royal Yacht Squadron.

More than 130 islanders – including over 70 people with a range of disabilities – had a fun and rewarding experience on the water at Cowes Sailability Club’s Open Days.

Thanks to the hard work of an enthusiastic team of volunteers, the club’s boats have been freshly varnished and thoroughly scrubbed ready for the new sailing season.

A fundraising event organised by the new luxury resort Woodside Bay Lodge Retreat has raised enough money to buy desperately needed new trailer tyres for Cowes Sailability Club.

Much appreciated new funds have been raised with the generous support of Sainsbury’s in Newport and the Bembridge Townswomen’s Evening Guild.

The Devon-based full service marketing agency, SW1, will work with the charity to improve their online presence.

Cowes Sailability Club member Andy Barton will soon be whooshing through the Solent after overcoming his physical challenges to gain a recognised powerboat qualification.

While the world’s top sailors competed for glory in Cowes Week, 101 people with disabilities had the opportunity to experience the thrill of the regatta from the water.
