Members and volunteers enjoy fun and friendship while waiting for the sailing season to begin again

During the autumn and winter months, when sailing and boating activities are suspended, Cowes Sailability Club organises regular get-togethers for members and volunteers.  Ranging from visits and activities to games nights, these events help to relieve feelings of loneliness and social isolation for disabled people and volunteers, especially those who live alone.

“When the evenings are dark and the weather is bad, people with disabilities and older people can become stuck at home with nothing to do and nothing to look forward to,” explains Christine Smyth, Rear Commodore of Cowes Sailability Club.  “We aim to provide all our members and volunteers with some companionship and fun times, while they are waiting for the sailing season to begin again!”
