With my disability, I never thought I would be able to sail again.  However, through Cowes Sailability Club, I have had the amazing opportunity to go on day-long sailing trips on a 34-foot sailing yacht, the Spirit of Scott Bader.  Initially, I thought that it would feel a long time being on the water all day, but the time just flew!

The experience gave me a wonderful feeling of freedom from being on the water, with the wind in the sails and the sights and smells of the sea. I was able to go on board and move around in my electric wheelchair.  I could also go right up to the wheel and help steer the boat, which was a lot of fun and made me feel proud of myself.

My carer was able to come with me with me, and it was a pleasure to spend the day with so many interesting people.  Thank you, Cowes Sailability!
